Our
house was one of many farms which were abandoned in the ‘60s
and ‘70s. We bought it in the ‘80s, restored it,
and adapted it to our own needs in a way that was as sympathetic
as possible to the style of the original building.
Surrounded by olive trees on all sides, the house is sited
atop rolling landscape in the Chianti wine-growing region,
not far from Siena (15 km) and Florence (45 km).
We set up our arts and crafts activities in the house, in
tune with the rhythms of life in the countryside. At times
the pace of life is set by the over-riding demands of nature,
at other times they offer you the chance to pursue a particular
light or an idea which goes on to take concrete shape in our
works.
The nearby cities of Siena and Florence, the towns of Volterra
and San Gimignano, as well as smaller or less well-known towns
in the area, are full of masterpieces which are part of the
art history and the history of craftsmanship in Tuscany.
As well as the well-known local delicacies and fine wines,
the surrounding area, from Chianti to the ‘Crete Senesi’
and the Elsa valley, also offers endless and ever-changing
scenery to inspire the photographer and the artist.
Swimming pools, riding stables, tennis and golf facilities
are all within a 10-minute radius.
The coast is around 80 km away, a distance that makes a day
by the sea a tempting option.
The house is immersed in countryside that invites one to take
leisurely strolls or to relax in the shade of the olive trees,
or simply to enjoy a tasty char-grilled meal, or a bruschetta
with the new season’s olive oil, washed down with a
fine Chianti.
You can come and share all of this -- we’ve restored
the house in such a way as to provide two separate apartments
with independent access, and these are available to let as
holiday homes.
